Amalfi Coast Book by Assouline
Description
The Amalfi Coast is the epitome of the Italian dream. Nestled among lemon blossoms and bougainvillea is a line of thirteen towns that make up the Amalfi Coast.
Known for their vertical landscape, the villages are only accessible via Strada Statale 163 – a narrow, winding cliffside road which, while unsettling to drive through, offers incomparable views. This magical strip joins the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea below and aesthetes from all over the world flock here year after year to enjoy its picturesque pebble beaches, picturesque hikes, perfect climate and legendary establishments, which are not limited to historic hotels and restaurants.
Monuments from Amalfi Cathedral to Ravello's Villa Rufolo all evoke the culture and spirit of centuries past, and sites loved by Jacqueline Kennedy, John Steinbeck and Gore Vidal abound. With its iconic limoncello, both locally grown and loved, its most beautiful villas and breathtaking views, the Amalfi Coast is in a class of its own.
