Fashion book: Impossible collection by Assouline
Description
“A must have” - Yahoo.fr
In this limited edition, linen clamshell Ultimate Collection format and oversized handmade book, Valerie Steele flexes her curatorial muscle by showcasing the most iconic dresses of the 20th century. From Poiret to Pucci, Doucet to Dior, Vionnet to Valentino, Valerie Steele selects a hundred dresses that caused a sensation either on the catwalk or walking into a room and ultimately inspired new fashion directions. Steele's selections include Paul Poiret's figure-liberating 1907 dress, Madame Grès's sublimely draped goddess creation from 1938, Jean Paul Gaultier's stunningly exaggerated cone-bust corset dress circa 1984, and the impressive gown of Hussein Chalayan's remote-controlled fiberglass plane from 2000. The compilation, while certainly subjective, is sure to receive nods of recognition with a gasp or two of surprise.
Exclusive white gloves and canvas tote bag are included with every purchase of an Ultimate Collection book.
