Book Roy Lichtenstein: Impossible collection by Assouline
Description
Roy Lichtenstein's comic book-inspired paintings and irreverent spirit have resonated with collectors and art lovers for more than half a century. Museums and galleries compete to exhibit his work, and in the marketplace he is one of the most coveted names in contemporary art.
Famous for imbuing ordinary objects from hot dogs to trash cans with monumental power, Roy Lichtenstein challenged traditional "good taste" and was part of the new avant-garde that redefined American art in the 1960s. In this new Assouline Ultimate Collection volume, one hundred of Lichtenstein's most memorable works, chosen by art historian Avis Berman, are sumptuously reproduced, taken from the iconic Whaam! and Drowning Girl and later reinterpretations of paintings by Picasso, Matisse and van Gogh for public commissions like Times Square Mural, which is installed in the Times Square subway station in New York.
Featuring stunning openings that reveal the breadth of Lichtenstein's art in all its color and beauty, this book is a dream collection for Pop Art lovers everywhere.
Exclusive white gloves and canvas tote bag are included with every purchase of an Ultimate Collection book.
