THE HISTORY OF THE SPEED BOAT ARNO XI 25CM
This stunning looking Ferrari speedboat is a racing boat built by Enzo Ferrari to break the world water speed record in 1953, a world record that still stands today. The legendary machine was the idea of ​​billionaire Achille Castoldi to break the world water speed record. He convinced the great Enzo Ferrari to assist his project with the brand's technical knowledge. The result is an 800kg racing car powered by a 12-cylinder, 4500 cc Ferrari V12 engine, the same engine as in the Ferrari 375 Grand Prix. In October 1953, the ARNO Iseo in Northern Italy. Then the car was sold to Nando dell'Orto, a wealthy Italian engineer, who continued to use the ARNO XI in competition for over 10 years, achieving numerous victories. There were aerodynamic improvements during this period, notably on the nose and the addition of a spoiler. The ARNO XI ended its racing career in 1960, with a victory in the European Championship. In 1992 the car was sold to a collector and it was completely renovated. It will change ownership in 2012 during an auction in London.
